Aisultan Seitov's feature-length debut about the famine in Kazakhstan in the 1930s. The international casting for "MADE OF" brought together Yerkebulan Daiyrov, Alexander Pal, Varvara Shmykova, and other actors. The film earned Seitov a Best Director award in Shanghai and received two Asia Pacific Screen Awards nominations.

Casting for a historical film is different from casting for a contemporary story. Here, profession and type aren't enough—you need a person you believe in the given circumstances, without the period makeup and without explanation. Such people aren't selected from a file cabinet; they undergo a long and extensive search.

"International" here isn't about the scope, but about the task: bringing together people from different acting schools so that they belong to the same world on camera. That's the main challenge—not finding each individual, but ensuring that, when seen side by side, they read as a single story.
